I've been a fan of Dove Mountain well before WGC Accenture Match Play began 14 +years ago and since they left.Every time I'm there I remember how the Top 64 Golfers in World played their shots. Even when it snowed there during third round of WGC Match Play.Beautifully maintained tee boxes and fairways. Few Greens were showing some sign of wear but overall they were in very good shape. Greens are small and sloped and falls off like US Open greens. Bunkers are abundant and strategically placed for all playing abilities, so you will eventually be in several fairway and green-side bunkers during your round. Various Tee boxes are available for all skill levels, Blue tee box will test even the very best of the single digit players.
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain's Saguaro/Tortolita course was unveiled to a global audience during the 2009 World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play. At The Golf Club at Dove Mountain, golfers are rewarded with a world-class venue nestled against the Tortolita Mountain Range. The original 27 holes are challenging and engaging, a seamless blend of the distinct characteristics that reflect the High Sonoran Desert’s mountainside terrain (course elevation between 2,300 and 3,000 feet).
But, well worth the challenge it provides. Good for your humility and levels all off egos. The Practice Range and Putting Green are as good as they come, and Staff is excellent. Carts come with their Course GPS.
Its even designed so it won't let you drive close to the Greens. Smart technology at work. All around a great 1st Class experience, just don't expect to play to your handicap.
And you will thorough enjoy the layout, its view of the Mountain and abundant Sahuaro cacti. By the way DO Not go looking far for a stray ball, especially this time of season into Fall; Diamondback rattlesnakes are now out and even worse watch for those Jumping Cholla's. Consider you've been forewarned.Enjoy! The course and view were incredible! We went with for our 2020 golf trip with 8 of us. The greens and fairways were in immaculate shape, but the course was easily the hardest any of the 8 of us have played in our lives.
It was almost diabolical. The pin placements, length, bunker setup, and fast greens contributed to every one of us shooting 10-20 shots more than what we normally would. It was almost unfair how hard it was.
If you like being overly challenged on the golf course, this is for you. No complaints on anything other than the course difficulty! I remember the Match Play a while back being played here so decided I would play it as part of my recent trip to Tucson (my first visit to the area). I played Saguaro/Wild Burro and really enjoyed the layout. My problem came with the difficulty of the green complexes. If you did not leave your ball in the correct location, you were in for a world of trouble, whether it was very difficult chips or tough putts up and down hills in the green.
Course was in excellent shape, but definitely need 4-5 rounds at the course in order to really play it well.
